Babymooning

Yesterday my sister-in-law and her new husband left for a 30 day honeymoon cruise that will take them around the globe. I cannot imagine all the new things they will see and experience together and all that they will learn about themselves and about each other.

I can relate to all that excitement but in an entirely different way. Yesterday I began my babymoon with Whitaker.

I love this special time as I have gotten to discover each of my children. Mine typically have started not long after their births since I've been blessed to have smooth deliveries and am already at home in my own surroundings.

This is the time where I discover them, learn about what they do and do not like, and fall madly and completely in love with them.

Today has been no exception.

Yesterday (10/21) was a blur for the most part after the birth. We were all exhausted after being up all night so we napped and rested the day away. I had a fairly restful night last night and was feeling much more like myself today.

Today, Simon took the reins around the house with the older ones and I was free to focus on Whitaker. I have been able to stare at him uninterrupted for hours, watching him breathe, nurse, and sleep. Kissing his toes and tiny ears, rubbing my cheek on his baby-soft skin and smelling that sweet, sweet newborn smell. How in the world have I not known him before now? He's so right, so perfect for this family.

I'm so amazed by God's creation of life!

True, Simon and I never went on a honeymoon ourselves, but to have had four babymoons is making up for it all! What a great day!

Here are a few recent pictures. We did have a professional photographer at the birth so I'm anxiously awaiting those shots that I'll be able to share soon along with Whitaker's birth story which was amazing.
