Worth the wait

Jackson has been riding a bike for a year - a girl's bike, that is.

Sparkly purple.

White wheels.

All that was missing were the streamers and basket!

We had bought it second hand for Haviland, but she hasn't learned to ride without training wheels so Jackson enjoyed riding it and never once seemed to notice the "girlishness" of it.

However, today is his 7th Birthday, so we thought an upgrade was in order.

Happy Birthday Jackson! Where have seven years gone??

This was fun!

We had decided to wait and have Haviland's party when Simon's parents could be here so it was about a month late, but it was worth the wait.

Fun was had by all. Haviland chose a Rainbow Care Bear theme and the girls decorated t-shirts with rainbows and thought their masks were terrific.

Of course, my favorite part was the anticipation of the cake that Mom always makes for each of the kids on their birthdays. This year was no exception!

Sorry about the date stamp on these pictures. It's on Mom's camera and not a single one of us can figure out how to turn it off!!

Note: No, that cake was not her birthday cake. She chose to have brownies and the "Happy Birthday Jesus" cake was given to us. She wanted to blow candles out on it though. Can you tell we're still trying to figure out how to balance Christmas and birthday?

Belated Birthday

We wrapped up our busy birthday month last week with my 35th birthday. For my birthday dinner I chose heavy hors d'oeuvres that Dad made to perfection and a friend made me the BEST cheesecake I have ever had. It was a great day.

It definitely competed with these birthday memories from celebrations long, long ago...

7th Birthday - Strawberry Shortcake was the theme!

9th Birthday - Care Bears!

11th Birthday - Backwards Party (not sure what inspired this theme, but everyone came with their clothes on backwards!)


15th Birthday - 1989 was such a cool year!!

Lego-mania!

Jackson celebrated his sixth birthday, lego-style. Nana made the perfect cake and we ended the party with some fireworks.

We love you SO much Jackson!!! Happy Birthday!
