One of my more exciting ventures this year has been to plant my first ever garden. I cannot keep as much as a house plant alive, so for years I wondered if I would ever know enough to plant and harvest vegetables.
It wasn't until someone introduced me to Square Foot Gardening that I felt I had the slimmest of chances at anything other than a windowsill herb garden. I poured over the book most of the winter and in March we - well, me with the plan and my husband the tools- broke ground and got to work.

Fast forward to May 5:
Fast forward to May 5:
And one month later, on June 3:
4 zucchini
5 cucumbers
~30 beans
5 small carrots
1 small red onion
more lettuce than we could possibly eat
We're still anxiously awaiting the tomatoes, corn, peppers, & watermelon.
Considering these were all started from seed, it just pleases me to no end. It's been amazingly rewarding so far, and I can tell you nothing recently has shouted aloud God's presence more than seeing this come to life. I can already tell that we'll need twice the space next year!

I'm so proud of you. Also-thanks for cheering on my garden (and inspiring me to go for it)!
Wow that is so great! I tried tomatoes last year and failed miserably. My friend is doing a square foot garden also. You guys have a lot in common. Congrats on your great achievement!
