The 5k wrap up

I'm not a "runner"- even my mother admitted as much.

But I did it!

The ladies in our group all had varying goals: a couple had times they wanted to beat, one lady was proudly walking the course a year to the date after her hip  replacement surgery and there I was

I JUST WANTED TO RUN WITHOUT STOPPING.

Thirty nine minutes after I started, I crossed that finish line having accomplished that goal with my family and friends cheering me on. Sweet indeed!

The girl I would have never done this without - Amanda, my walking/running buddy for the past ten months!!
Her long legs and determination beat me by two minutes!
There are more great pictures to share as soon as I get them uploaded. '

Couch to 5k update

I'll have everyone know that in my third week of training I came in dead last today as we did our group run/walk.  My sweet friend Amanda stayed by my side almost every step of the way, but I continually felt I was holding her back. This is not easy for me, but I will push through!

P.S. - Don't laugh at my pink hat. Can someone help a girl with some snazzy running gear? At least then I'd look the part regardless of my speed! :)

5k or bust!

Okay, you're not going to believe that I'm even in this picture, but there I am - bottom right! It was taken from an iPhone so didn't come out that clear.

A group of women from church are working towards a 5k and either I was delirious at the time I signed up or I must really, really like these women. I guess it's a little of both!

All kidding aside, I love that our focus is to get our bodies moving and to encourage a healthier lifestyle in general. We are all real women with real bodies - most of us mothers or grandmothers who have experienced the effects of child bearing and gravity's pull on our bodies.

Keep me accountable people! I'm not a quitter, and I don't intend to start now!
