Buche de Noel

Not as pretty as the one my college roommate made for me, (15 years ago!)  but when Jackson saw a Buche de Noel, or Christmas Log, in a book he was reading it brought back a great memory of Beckie sharing one of her northern* family traditions with me.

So, I found a recipe online and Jackson and I set to work making it today while the younger ones were napping and Haviland was away at art class.

Merry Christmas Beckie! This one's for you!

*I have no idea if this is a "northern" Christmas dessert or not. Beckie was one of few Yankees in our small southern college and having never been north of the Mason-Dixie line at the time, this seemed very foreign and exotic to me!
