Our February Picks

February is a short month so I thought I'd go ahead and list what we're currently reading. I've added these and a few other recommendations to thecarousel on the right!

Me: The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith- I'm doing a study with some women from church and this book is well..... wow! Tim Keller, a pastor in New York City, writes this book about the well-known parable The Prodigal Son found in the book of Luke. It's a very fast read in itself, so I'm glad we're meeting to really dig into this. I'm telling you, you don't understand the point that Jesus was making in this parable until you read this book!

The Mission of Motherhood: Touching Your Child's Heart for EternityThe Mission of Motherhood: Touching Your Child's Heart for Eternity- Although I've followed her blog for a couple of years, this was the first book by Sally Clarkson that I've read. I cannot believe it took me so long. I just knew we'd be kindred spirits and this book only confirmed it. I wish this was required reading for every mother!!

Simon: Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is): Sexual Purity in a Lust-Saturated World - He's reading this with some of the youth at church. I haven't asked him his opinion of this yet, but when I peeked at the first few pages, I think it will be a really, really "real" read.

The kids: Now that the newness of Christmas toys is wearing off, the kids have gone back to their bookshelves. I love catching them reading in their rooms! There doesn't seem to be any particular favorites this month. Just the oldie but goodies. Haviland is having a great time realizing that she can now read some of her favorite books all by herself. She's become such a confident reader now that she completed her reading curriculum.

That's all for now!
